It is possible the Highway Patrolman is pre model 28. If the gun is an N-frame and has a checkered topstrap, then its a Model 27. . Gandh garbage
S&W Revolvers 1945 to Present. I can only guess that you guys get sick of this question but it appears that S&W serial number lookup resources are just non-existent. I can easily find the date of manufacture for my other guns but not my S&W.
